The only thing that matters
Having great content on your blog doesn’t matter.
Having thousands of twitter followers doesn’t matter.
Knowing every VC in town doesn’t matter.
Having the most talented team doesn’t matter.
It just matters that you accomplish something significant. When you do this, people will subscribe to your blog, they’ll follow you on twitter, every VC will want to know you, and the most talented people will want to work with you.
At that point you don’t need it.
Accomplishing something significant is adding value to other people’s lives by solving a problem. Just focus on that problem, and everything else will take care of itself.
